About Shifting Light Grove of 10
This contemporary glass outdoor sculpture was inspired by nature. The beauty of hand-blown glass rings in red, orange and yellow shines in the sunlight in this delightful outdoor sculpture by Susan Rankin. Like flowers in a garden, the translucent and opaque rings are stacked organically on ten steel ‘stems’—columns that appear to sway gently in the breeze. Rankin’s work in both colour and form is often informed by nature. She has been an avid gardener for more than 25 years.
"Shifting Light, Grove of 10" is comprised of 3 Garden Groves. (Left- Shifting Light Group of 3" 92 x 18 x 14 in, Center- "Shifting Light Group of 4" 101 x 16 x 16 in, Right- "Shifted Light Group of 3" 104 x 18 x 12 in) They can be acquired on their own or grouped with multiple groves to create a larger format installation.
“The shifting movement of the light throughout the day illuminates the beauty of the glass elements, creating moments when it appears that the colour itself sings and that colour is actually commanding the space. When lit at night, the columns take on a dramatic jewel-like quality.” Susan Rankin
