About Skyward Whisper

Terri DelSignore is a Canadian ceramic artist and teacher who has been creating sculptural and illustrative artwork for more than a decade.

The joyful sculpture, Skyward Whisper is intended to engage the viewer in a playful and meaningful interaction. How do you imagine yourself in the natural world? The two human-sized wings are constructed from mortar that has encased a steel frame. Dozens of individually hand formed and hand painted porcelain pieces resembling feathers were made especially for this form. Visitors can stand within the wings "and experience the feeling of having wings, if only for a moment… encouraging imagination and reflection.” It also provides a memorable photo op.

DelSignore is interested in exploring our relationship with nature and telling that story with her work. From her studio named Artisticaos in a small town in Ontario, she has begun producing large-scale sculptures that integrate her hand crafted porcelain pieces.
