This contemporary outdoor kinetic sculpture is forged from steel into a circle.

Timothy Gordon Johnson creates evocative, often playful and elegant kinetic and interactive metal sculptures that are designed to engage the viewer. The Canadian artist wants you to think about his art and hopes it will spark a meaningful and thoughtful dialogue. Hello World, is a kinetic, interactive monumental sculpture forged from powder coated steel. It consists of a large circular band with a smaller circle inside. The sculpture sits on a stand that allows it to be gently spun by a visitor so they can experience how form, weight and motion work together. Johnson’s ultimate hope is that his art will bring a little joy and beauty to the world.

Timothy Gordon Johnson grew up surrounded by the arts-music and dance. And at a young age he apprenticed alongside his grandfather, who taught him how to work with his hands, and had a passion for machines and mechanics.
In 2002, Johnson began experimenting with metalworking, crafting small pieces from his garage. Over the years he has diligently honed his skills inspired by graphic and industrial design, sculpture and architecture.
His successful metal work art practice in Ottawa is called Gordon Johnson Art, an homage to his beloved grandfather. Johnson’s pieces can be found in many private and public collections.
