About Syncrospective

This contemporary outdoor minimalist steel sculpture features a globe.

This sculpture is by Timothy Gordon Johnson, a Canadian artist who creates evocative, often playful, elegant kinetic and interactive metal sculptures. The idea behind his work is to engage the viewer in a thoughtful and meaningful dialogue.
Syncrospective is one of a series of forged mild steel sculptures that features two curved ribbons of steel in a graceful spiral. At the top of the sculpture sits a highly polished globe, so shiny that its mirror-like quality reflects the surrounding landscape.
In creating dynamic art, Johnson’s ultimate hope is that his art will bring a little joy and beauty to the world.

“Incorporating mirrored gazing globes in much of my work, I aim to provoke introspection and self-discovery, promoting inclusion and tolerance amid life's complexities.” Timothy Gordon Johnson

Timothy Gordon Johnson grew up surrounded by the arts-music and dance. And at a young age he apprenticed alongside his grandfather, who taught him how to work with his hands, and had a passion for machines and mechanics.
In 2002, Johnson began experimenting with metalworking, crafting small pieces from his garage. Over the years he has diligently honed his skills inspired by graphic and industrial design, sculpture and architecture. His successful metal work art practice in Ottawa is called Gordon Johnson Art, an homage to his beloved grandfather. Johnson’s pieces can be found in many private and public collections.
