‘Andromeda,’ Viktor Mitic’s grand contemporary outdoor sculpture forged from stainless steel has a purplish-blue gloss finish and is accented in 24 kt. gold. The abstract fluid lines of this powerful piece are accentuated by the light-reflecting quality of the luxurious finish inspired by both the earth and the heavens. Mitic’s colour palette of a deep blue is intended to mirror the serenity of a night sky and the gold (a signature finish for the artist) symbolizes ‘a tapestry of constellations.’ The name Andromeda refers to both a beautiful princess, a celestial figure in Greek mythology and the galaxy that exists next to the Milky Way.

Viktor Mitic is a Canadian artist who was born in Serbia. As a young man, he attended various art schools for classical training in Europe. After immigrating to Canada at age 20, he earned a BFA from the University of Toronto in 1995 and took additional studies in art history at Sheridan College. He has exhibited his post-Pop inspired paintings, prints and colourful abstract sculptures at the Muramatsu Gallery in Tokyo, The Armory Show in NYC, Art Chicago and Toronto. His work is held in corporate, private, and public collections.
