About Halcyon Gold
This contemporary abstract sculpture was created from stainless steel and painted gold. This impressive monumental sculpture by Viktor Mitic was forged from stainless steel and painted with 24K gold. Highly regarded for his unique visual style, the Canadian artist favours abstract form. Halcyon exhibits Mitic’s signature flowing lines and imaginative shape. It's highly polished, bright gold surface naturally reflects light. The name ‘halcyon’ refers to the Greek myth that Zeus calmed the winds during the winter solstice so a kingfisher (Alcyone, the former daughter of the god of wind) could lay her eggs. The term ‘Halcyon days’ has become synonymous with a period of calm and peace.
“Halcyon is a massive sculpture …evoking the serenity and timelessness of the mythic Halcyon days.” Viktor Mitic
