About Red Gold II
This colourful abstract pop art sculpture was created from stainless steel and is partly gold plated.Viktor Mitic’s compelling sculptural artwork has found an international audience with recent installations in Vancouver, New York City and as far afield as Sri Lanka. Highly regarded as both a skilled painter and sculptor, Mitic has created a series of tower-like sculptures hand forged from stainless steel and painted in vivid modern colours. The form is imaginative and playful; the result of the artist’s ability to envision what paint drippings from his studio floor would look like as a sculptural object. To create this piece, he photographed the drippings, enlarged and enhanced them on a computer and then cut the shapes out of metal with a laser cutting machine.
The colour palette for Red Gold II—red, purple, and sky blue is a bold choice—a signature of Mitic’s unique work. The addition of a 24 kt. gold plated shape in the center of the tower elevates and distinguishes the piece. One of two editions.
“My sculptural work evolves from an exploration of chance and intention, driven by a fascination with form, colour, and the unpredictable patterns that emerge from everyday experiences.” Viktor Mitic
