About Two Elements
This pop art table top sculpture is made of turquoise and pink painted metal. The provocative and eclectic visual language of Viktor Mitic has captivated both collectors and critics in Canada and the U.S. The lyrical form of this small sculpture-two elegant shapes forged from stainless steel was inspired by the dynamic patterns of paint splattering found on the floor of Mitic’s Toronto studio. Coated in a glossy, bright, turquoise and hot pink, and mounted on a black pedestal, the sculpture makes a bold statement. Mitic created this sculpture from photos and sketches he made of the paint marks that were then manipulated on a computer.
“I would go back and forth between paper and computer and at one point I would paint them in vibrant contrasting colors. I would look for something in color and in shapes that would make the whole structure dynamic and live.” Viktor Mitic
