Opening reception Saturday January 15, 2-5 PM Artists will be present. Daniel Hughes is a remarkable Canadian painter. Through his figure studies, he deftly captures moments of intimacy and revelation. This collection of eleven new paintings will be Hughes' first show at the Oeno Gallery. Hughes' paintings have been exhibited in the National Portrait Galleries in London (UK) and Edinburgh, and have received critical acclaim in exhibitions in Florence, New York, Miami, Montreal, and St. John's. Since he received top honours from the New York Academy of Art MFA programme in 1995, he has won numerous prizes and awards. Oeno is also exhibiting 7 new steel works by Kingston sculptor Rick Lapointe. Lapointe's muscular abstract sculptures defy gravity, and seem to dance with shadow and light. Described by Shayne Dark as an artist with a "phenomenal unique voice", Lapointe is now gaining recognition for his work in the US and Australia.
