Spring Thaw: New works by Kim Atlin & introducing Heather Allen-Swarttouw

3 April 2010 — 27 April 2010

Vernissage on April 3, 3 - 7 PM As one of Canada’s top landscape artists, Kim Atlin continues to create paintings which act as memory triggers. Her work evokes seasons and places of significance specific to the viewer. Working somewhere in between abstract and figurative landscape, Atlin’s paintings are recognizable, but are also like the dreams and memories they bring to mind. The Gallery is also please to introduce the work of Heather Allen-Swarttouw in the alcoves. Allen-Swarttouw's pieces combine ceramic and textile works, generally in the form of boats and paddles with fine details and precious overleaf. These vessels offer questions about interior and exterior, of containment, of transport, and journey.
