Susan Collett

16 October 2009 — 10 November 2009

Labyrinths: Clay & Paper. New Work by Susan Collett October 16 - November 10 Opening Reception: Saturday, October 17, 3 - 7pm Susan Collett's new series of ceramic sculptures break new ground. Lush and mysterious, they challenge our ideas of space and light, and push the boundaries of possibility within the medium. Collett's new works, from her Labyrinth series, continue to provoke. Her core interest lies in the exploration of chaos through form and control of light and the dichotomy of strength versus fragility. Two artist residencies in China have been integral in solidifying these ideas. Collett's unique print works echo the themes of her ceramic works. They are executed from plates made from stitched industrial-grade copper sheeting. All images are single monoprints, not edition printed. Mark Your Calendars! Join us for Susan Collett's riveting visual presentation of her journey with ceramics. This photomontage chronicles her experiences in China, and the influence that her residencies there have had on her current body of work. Sunday, November 1 at 6pm. The event is free, but space is limited. Reservations recommended.
