Acute Triangle by Kenneth Emig Acquired by the City of Ottawa
The theatrical and mesmerizing work of Canadian artist Kenneth Emig has been acquired by the art collection of the City of Ottawa and is part of the current exhibition at Ottawa City Hall.
Known for his dramatic infinity light boxes, Emig uses led lighting, mirrors, and glass to create an opportunity for visual experience. The eye is drawn into the infinite forms in this wall mounted light box, echoing throughout the mirrors and reflective lighting.

This is the first work by Kenneth Emig to be acquired by the prestigious City of Ottawa Art Collection. Comprising more than 3,000 artworks, the City of Ottawa Art Collection enriches communities, supports local artists and forms a visual art history of the Ottawa area.
The City of Ottawa collects artworks that demonstrate creativity and innovation.
Artwork from this diverse collection is presented in over 170 public sites across Ottawa. Direct Purchase is a competitive program for participants to offer artwork for purchase to the City of Ottawa. More than 2,700 artworks are reviewed each year.
Born in 1962, Kenneth Emig is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of visual art, the human body, space, motion, sound, light and technology.
Emig received diplomas in Acoustics Engineering and Electronic Engineering from George Brown College in Toronto before working for Bell-Northern Research, The National Research Council of Canada, Ryerson University and Research in Motion. He has won multiple grants from the Ontario Arts Council, the Canada Council and the City of Ottawa for his visual art, performance and dance works.
Emig's artworks frequently integrate wall mounted, floor and suspended sculpture, installation, as well as performance in natural or constructed environments. Emig has become known for his theatrical and mesmerizing infinity light boxes that glow with brightly coloured geometry.
