Together, they explored the inspirations behind Shaping Colour, the evolution of Ristvedt’s remarkable six-decade career, and her ongoing exploration of the power of colour.

In 2023, the National Gallery of Canada acquired three of her works, affirming her place as “the visionary painter she has always been.”

This exhibition features a vibrant new series of compositions painted over the past three years. Echoing her gestural works from the 1970s through the 1990s, these paintings reaffirm her reputation as a bold and inventive artist who continues to shape and challenge the language of abstraction.
