Oeno Gallery is pleased to host an artist talk with painter and cultural critic Deborah Root on Wednesday, June 18 at 5:30 PM, as part of our summer exhibition SUMMERING.

Known for her richly layered compositions and bold use of colour, Root’s work explores the psychological and emotional impact of war across generations. Drawing on stories passed down from her father and grandfather who served in the Pacific during WWII, her paintings reflect on memory, disconnection, and the fragility of familial and social bonds. Influenced by art history, advertising, and photography, Root's fragmented visual language invites viewers into a world of intuitive associations and complex narratives.
