Susan Collett at the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal
Ceramic artist Susan Collett has been selected to exhibit her work in the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal. Her piece is featured in From the Functional to the Fabulous: 600 Years of Decorative Arts & Design, now on view in the Liliane & David M. Stewart Pavilion. The exhibition traces six centuries of design innovation and artistry, highlighting objects that transform the everyday into the extraordinary.
Collett is widely recognized for her large-scale clay sculptures and monoprints. Her sculptural works are hand-built from earthenware paper clay, glazed, and multi-fired to create complex surface patinas, while her monoprints are pulled from stitched copper plates that bear delicate embossed relief. Over the course of her career, she has continually pushed the expressive potential of clay and printmaking, earning international recognition and inclusion in prestigious collections and exhibitions worldwide.
Her work is represented in permanent collections including the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum in India, the Gyeonggi Museum in Korea, the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art in Toronto, Canada House in London, and the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts. She has exhibited extensively, from the International Ceramic Biennale in Korea and the Taiwan Biennale to the Keramion Museum in Germany and the Sèvres Porcelain Museum in Paris. Collett is also a recipient of the RBC Award for Glass (2014) and is a member of both the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) and the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA).
Her inclusion in From the Functional to the Fabulous marks yet another milestone in a career dedicated to innovation in ceramic and printmaking arts.
Congratulations, Susan, on this remarkable achievement!
