Steven Heinemann Featured at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

Oeno Gallery is delighted to share that acclaimed ceramic artist Steven Heinemann is featured in the exhibition From the Functional to the Fabulous at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA).

On view now, this exhibition celebrates the expressive potential of contemporary ceramics, showcasing how artists push the boundaries between utility and sculpture. Heinemann’s masterful vessels exemplify this duality. With surfaces that appear aged, weathered, and organic, his works explore the tension between control and chance, intimacy and distance.

A leading figure in Canadian ceramics, Heinemann’s practice has been recognized internationally for its quiet innovation and craftsmanship. His pieces are held in major public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Canada.
