A brilliant yellow sun peeks out behind hot pink, deep blue and contrasting black shapes in this abstract landscape by Calgary artist Aron Hill. This is one of a series of acrylic paintings he recently created. Conceptually, Hill’s work finds company in the art of famed modernist Jack Bush.
“In the last year I’ve become really comfortable with what I’m doing. I think I stopped asking art to do things it cannot do. I’ve stepped back and just said, ‘I’m going to do it!” Aron Hill
Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and their MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
