About Haptic Series Cobalt & White No 9
This contemporary ceramic vessel is hand-built.A former architect, Bill Greaves, enjoys the freedom of expressing his artistic vision by hand forming vessels out of clay. His pieces emulate natural shapes and colours—this bulb-shaped vessel is rendered in a stunning cobalt blue and white, accentuated by a highly textured pattern. Both the irregular rim of the vessel and its interior offer contrast in a natural clay colour. One of a series.
“Everything is informed by the free form of hand building—the exact opposite from architecture, where you make every decision in advance.” Bill Greaves
William Greaves received a Master of Architecture from Yale University and was a practising architect in NYC for several years before he became an artist full time.
He studied ceramics at Alex Yeung Studio in Toronto from 2017-2019. His studio was set up in 2020 and is near Consecon, Ontario. His work is shown here in Ontario and in NYC.
