About Haptic Series Vessel Cobalt Blue
This contemporary ceramic vessel’s shape was inspired by nature.Bill Greaves enjoys the freedom of expressing his artistic vision by hand-forming vessels out of clay. His pieces emulate natural shapes and colours—this tree-trunk-shaped vessel is rendered in a stunning cobalt blue accentuated by a highly textured vertical pattern. Both the irregular rim of the vessel and its interior offer contrast in a natural clay colour—one of a series.
“The way I work is hand building so clay dries as you work with it so it’s constantly changing its properties as you work with it so there’s this great back and forth that resists the ability to produce exactly what you intended to produce. It’s one of the things that I like best about the material.” Bill Greaves
Bill Greaves originally trained as an architect at Yale University, Bill studied ceramics at Alex Yeung Studio in Toronto from 2017-2019 before setting up his studio near Consecon, Ontario, in 2020.
