Old lead type, welded together to form the weathered face of this piece, is cast in aluminum. The wings and boat complete the story of ‘The Odyssey,’ an ancient Greek poem that chronicles the journey of Odysseus by ship back to Ithaca after the Trojan War. This is an outdoor or indoor sculpture. Dunning sees his pieces as “objects of reflection and contemplation.” Dale Dunning holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. While earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Mt. Allison University, NB, he studied under Lawren P. Harris (the son of Group of Seven member, Lawren S. Harris) and George Tiessen. Dunning has exhibited across Canada and his work is held in private, corporate and public collections.
