Biography

David Fisher is a Toronto based sculptor and photographer working towards completion of the MFA programme in Interdisciplinary Master's in Art, Media and Design (Sculpture) at OCAD University. This is Fisher’s second career. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is the Medical Director of the Cleft Lip and Palate Program at the Hospital for Sick Children.

Fisher works in paper, plastic, metal, wood and uses computer modeling and 3D printing. Using this technology, he creates maquettes for large-scale sculptures. Fisher's subject matter includes both the familiar and iconic -- common geometric forms, words within words, chess pieces, milk crates, that he reconfigures and scales.

Fisher has exhibited his site specific work in downtown Toronto and at York University. His work is held in private collections.
