About Pine Cone 23-254

Imposing in its scale and detail, Floyd Elzinga has created another outdoor sculpture inspired by the tall pines that surround his Niagara studio. This large pine cone forged from weathering steel mimics both the organic form and the patina of a pine cone one might find on the forest floor. Elzinga’s work is playful pop art that marries natural shapes with industrial materials.

His pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS.
