Biography
Jyhling Lee is an architect, artist, and educator. She was born in Taiwan, and her family emigrated to Canada when she was a little girl. Lee acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and a Master's in Architecture from Waterloo University. In addition to her art practice, she is currently a contract lecturer at the School of Interior Design at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her studio, ‘Figureground’, is based in both Toronto and Prince Edward County, Ontario.
Jyhling Lee is committed to exploring the socially enabling role of design within the built environment. Her work is designed to enhance the human experience of a place and to inspire the civic imagination.
Through her work in architecture, interior design, public art, and public space making, her interdisciplinary practice focuses on a context-specific and integrated design approach to creating experientially enriching, inclusive environments.
Many of her outdoor art projects can be found in various locations in Toronto, Winnipeg and Saskatoon.
