About Corps Étrangers
Quebec artist Marie-Ève Fréchette’s esoteric modern sculptures feature bold, clean lines and fresh colours. This indoor piece—an abstracted figurative ceramic form sits on a rock-like component mounted on a geometric-shaped base, both made of resin. The colour palette—coral, sky blue and dark gray accentuates the intriguing form. Much of her work is inspired by an earlier career in science.
“I have always found it satisfying to create singular objects that have no function other than to exist. Anomalies that develop according to a certain logic.” Marie-Ève Fréchette
Marie-Ève Fréchette acquired both a Bachelor of Arts and a master’s degree in visual arts at Laval University in Quebec. She studied ceramics in College and has another degree in Pharmacy. Before becoming a full-time artist she worked as a pharmacist for ten years. Her work is found in public collections in Canada and France. She has been an assistant sculptor to the renowned Quebec artist, Jean-Pierre Morin since 2013.
