About August Yellow Picture

A tapestry of glorious colour meets the viewer’s eye in this gorgeous abstract work by Milly Ristvedt. The master colourist uses bright yellow as a brilliant backdrop to a cloud of gestural swatches of red, pink, blue, brown, black, purple and white. Calligraphic markings in bright white add a spontaneous energy and visual interest to the piece. Ristvedt is known for her intuitive and masterful sense of colour that she uses as a means of expressing deep thought and emotion.

“My paintings are, and always have been, attempts not only to focus awareness of colour, but to put colour to use in making cohesive statements that go beyond the visual.” Milly Ristvedt
