Biography

Nicholas Houghton (b. 1952) received an early education in art at the Wimbledon School of Art, obtained his undergrad degree at the Slade School of Fine Art, an MFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and a PHD at Roehampton University.

Houghton’s work comes out of a tradition of narrative art, while giving it an original twist. Although varied, each of these works shares certain, essential features. He is a multimedia artist, based in Folkestone and London, England. He has previously lived and worked in Canada, Belgium and Portugal.

His work has been exhibited across the globe, including London, Bath, Cambridge, Berlin, Leuven, Gijon, Montreal, Toronto, and several other Canadian cities and is held in various public collections, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Art. While pursuing his own artistic practice, he taught art in many schools.
Houghton’s work is held in numerous private and public collections internationally.
