About Resolution and Memory #2
This abstract oil painting was created by a Canadian artist. This contemporary painting by Noreen Taylor comes with a clear and powerful message. The word forgive is written in lowercase letters dominating the canvas.
As a backdrop to the text, Taylor uses lyrical brush strokes that ripple across the canvas emulating the rhythmic motion of waves. Here, the artist is using the sea as a metaphor for life. The palette is a mix of pastel colors, soft grays, and white. The visible texture adds to the dynamic form. One of a series.
“Just as I was finishing the first painting addressing and/or contemplating life’s vicissitudes, I received news that a relative was ill. Within an instant, all those stored memories of times together came back with stunning detail. Onto life’s ever-changing and always constant sea, I recalled the storms of emotions in our past. …Instead of feeding resentments, I wanted people to lay down their history of past hurts and forgive each other.” Noreen Taylor
