About Boat 10

The contemporary paintings of Canadian artist Pat Service have long caught the attention of collectors in many countries in the world. Service has explored many genres in her career from more traditional to minimal as is the case with this, one of a series of boat paintings. The dockside boat is a familiar and iconic image for many Canadians, no less so for the B.C. born Service who enjoyed the beauty of lakeside retreats throughout her life. This simple rendering of a rowboat—the bow sits squarely in center frame, oars at its side. The colour palette is crisp and bright—white boat with orange trim in blue waters all set against a cloudy sky. The reflection of the boat, a thoughtful detail appears in the foreground.

“I attempt to create a painting that is engaging, touching on universal sentiment and rewarding further contemplation.” Pat Service

Pat Service acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Pat Service is represented exclusively by the Oeno Gallery.
