About Bowl with Eggs

This watercolour still life painting of a bowl with eggs is by Pat Service.

Pat Service is considered one of Canada’s finest contemporary artists.
During her decades-long career, she has explored various styles from traditional landscapes and still lifes to abstraction and minimalism.
This charming little watercolour of a bowl with eggs may be a homage to the work of Canadian artist Mary Pratt, whose work in the 1970s celebrated images of the domestic lives of women. In this piece, a white ceramic bowl decorated with orange polka dots sits in the center frame with four white eggs inside it. The backdrop in blue and a rich golden colour allows the bowl to take precedence.

“I attempt to create a painting that is engaging, touching on universal sentiment and rewarding further contemplation.” Pat Service

Pat Service acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Pat Service is represented exclusively by the Oeno Gallery.
