Growing up on Canada’s west coast Pat Service was surrounded by the trees, rocky beaches and the sea that have long inspired her paintings. This is one of a series of playful minimalist pieces that ascribe personalities to different trees. Painted in bright yellow with an orange trunk, the simple form pops against an indigo-blue backdrop.

Pat Service acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
