A view of the forest as seen by Pat Service from the studio windows at Emma Lake Saskatchewan where she attended the renowned Professional Artist Workshops for 11 years. This painting is part of her ‘Tree Series’—the clean vertical lines of tree trunks, a floating leaf rendered in fantastic colours—mauve, orangey-red, yellow, and green against a soft gray-blue backdrop. Service is exploring minimalist form and colour here in a fresh and imaginative way. OH Yes!
“Colour, line, texture and composition are the players; the playground is the canvas.”
She acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
