Canadian artist Pat Service has always found inspiration for her work in the beauty of nature. In this minimalist painting, she is exploring the compelling shape of trees and leaves; the first of a series. In her typical original style, Service is using an imaginative colour palette of sky blue, reddish brown, yellow and green against a soft gray backdrop. Service says she could have called this painting, ‘waving’ because it appears the leaf is ‘waving’ at us.“I seek a new way to see what I have seen before, with playfulness, remainders of memories, and expansive space.” Pat Service
Pat Service acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
