About Equilibre Carré

Quebecois artist Paul Duval’s engaging contemporary sculptures have garnered an international audience. Forged from aluminum, the highly textured figures often strike a dramatic pose—this one is walking inside two angled squares. Duval’s work is inspired by the movement, gestures and attitudes expressed by the human form. Equilibre means ‘balance’ and carré is ‘square’ in French.

"The representation of the body is the basis of my artistic approach. I sculpt in order to materialize the fantasy world within me.” Paul Duval
