About the Work
Inspired by the graphic design of river maps, this sculpture by Philippe Pallafray charts a course of movement and reflection in steel within the natural environment. 14 x 52 inch steel base bolt into concrete or ground. Additional four polished steel water elements vary in size and are inserted into ground around the sculpture.Philippe Pallafray is a member of the Sculptors Society of Canada and of the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec. Born in France, he emigrated to Canada ten years ago and currently lives on Ile d’Orléans, Québec. He uses steel and stainless steel that he cuts, shapes, folds, and welds. Pallafray's sculptures have been exhibited in Canada and the United States, both as part of group and solo exhibitions. They are also part of public and private collections in Canada, France, and the United States. In 2016 he was artist-in-residence in Saint-Georges de Beauce, Québec, to create the sculpture Aquagraphie for Veilleux Park.
