About Facetime

Colourful. Engaging. Minimalist. Theatrical. That describes the work of Robert Clarke-Ellis.The Toronto sculptor creates accessible pieces that although playful in form often speak to serious values. This piece features two abstract shapes forged from steel, painted in bright blue; the ‘faces’—half moon shapes in a sunny yellow face and touch one another. Literally ‘facetime’!

‘Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.’ Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss)
“The “humanness” of the figures speaks to the viewer to elicit a memory.” Clarke-Ellis

He has an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD). He began his career as an instructor at NSCAD before completing a degree in education from Queen's University.
