Biography

“Capturing the vibrations between what hovers above and below and in between is what inspires my work. As an artist, I commit myself to a poetic dance in the immeasurable, that place of equanimity between matter and spirit.”

 Sasha Rogers

Sasha Rogers grew up on the prairies in Canada. It is that dynamic scenery--the magnificent vastness of sky and land—the indelible horizon line that dominates her artistic vision. Rogers has been a professional artist for more than twenty years. Her work has been influenced by the ethereal paintings of William Turner, the abstract art of Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Antoni Tapies and her own father, the much-celebrated sculptor and painter, Otto Rogers. Roger’s style remains uniquely her own as she explores visual and physical concepts of space through expressive form and masterful use of colour, light and texture.

Sasha Rogers obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours in Drawing and Painting in 1983 at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. At the University of Alberta, she acquired her Masters of Visual Arts Painting in 1987. She taught drawing and painting at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Toronto for twelve years. Roger’s artwork is held in many corporate collections and private collections in Canada, Europe and the U.S.A.
