About Haze
This contemporary painting captures a landscape in golden colors. This golden light-filled contemporary painting is by Sasha Rogers. The Canadian artist is captivated by the effect of creating what appears to be a ‘horizon’ line in her work that divides the colour field into two distinct realms, above and below. In this acrylic piece, gestural brushstrokes in a range of grays and golden hues dance across the canvas defined by a clean black line.
As an artist, Rogers has been influenced by William Turner, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Antoni Tapies and her own father, the celebrated sculptor and painter, Otto Rogers. She spent her childhood on the prairies and the magnificence of that ‘big sky’ country and its almost infinite view has been seared in memory.
“In these paintings there is a delicate dance along the horizon lines suggesting this threshold of transformation and the shifts of our physical and spiritual realities, co-mingling matter and spirit.” Sasha Rogers
