About Shifted Planes

Canadian artist Sasha Rogers’ lyrical, luminous artwork can be found in collections internationally. Inspired by the beauty of the natural world, Rogers has been drawn to expressing the idea of a ‘horizon line’ that separates the colour field of her abstract work into two. The intense turquoise colour of Shifting Planes feels fresh and contemporary highlighted by airy brushstrokes in soft gray and white. A distinct line spans the width of the painting and draws the viewer’s eye towards a seemingly infinite view. As a child Rogers grew up in the prairies and the distant memory of that vast landscape has long influenced her work.

“In some respects, the line is a portal to a place one veil removed–an idea beyond our reach–a placeless place –a realm, which exists in my dreams and my imagination. The line continues to hold me.” Sasha Rogers
