Tyler Rock is considered a leader and a consummate craftsman and artist among the glass art community in Canada. He has worked with glass for more than thirty years and been a dedicated and inspiring teacher for more than twenty.
Born in Alberta, Rock received his master’s degree in visual arts from the University of South Australia. He had previously obtained a diploma specializing in glass from the Alberta College of Art. He would go on to teach at his alma mater for several decades, finally becoming the head of the College's glass department.
Rock has worked in collaboration with other glass artists and conducted workshops in studios around the world. Both he and his wife, glass artist Julia Reimer were artists in residence at the famed Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York. He is the former president of the Glass Art Association of Canada.
Known for exploring the limits of working with hot glass, Rock and his wife, Julia Reimer own the highly regarded and innovative Firebrand Glass Studio in Black Diamond, Alberta.
Tyler Rock has exhibited throughout North America and his work can be found in public and private collections across Canada.
