About Antler Mound
The distinctive and elegant shape of deer antlers emerges from hand-blown translucent glass to create this contemporary tabletop sculpture by Tyler Rock. The Canadian artist favours the light-reflecting qualities of glass and often finds inspiration in the natural world for his subject matter. Rock is renowned for his innovative work with hot glass, an art form he’s been honing for more than thirty years. As an educator, Rock has lectured and taught workshops on glass blowing around the world. He still teaches in the glass studio at his alma mater, the Alberta College of Art.“Working with hot glass demands a responsiveness to the material conditions at play and often split-second decisions are required. I love that about the material and have been humbled again and again as I’ve worked with glass through the years.”
