Maud Lewis in Japan
After seeing Maudie, a dramatization of the life of Maud Lewis, Japanese blogger Hiroko Tsuzuku was inspired to learn more about the folk artist. Tsuzuku writes that Lewis lived a “beautiful life” despite her hardships and brought joy to others through her colorful paintings. In her work, Lewis depicted scenes of rural Nova Scotia with humor and affection.
Tsuzuku reached out to Oeno Gallery for permission to use an image of Lewis’ work. Pictured above is Carriage Ride, a delightful painting by Lewis that is available for purchase at Oeno Gallery. You can view all available artworks by Lewis at this page.
