About One & a Half
Two bouquets become one to create a lavish brightly coloured arrangement in this floral still life by Pat Service. The Canadian artist created a series of paintings in the 1990s that honoured the time honoured tradition of painting a still life. This floral portrait is rendered with expressive brushstrokes in pink, purple, white and yellow. The turquoise vase and muted patterned background allow the flowers to take centre stage.“Whenever anyone bought me a lovely bouquet of flowers I would go crazy until I could get them to the studio; there I could paint them, drawing inspiration from their luxuriousness.” Pat Service
Pat Service acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Pat Service is represented exclusively by the Oeno Gallery.
