About Christine's Arrangement

A dark wood dresser, a collection of objects—family photos, porcelain turtle statues, a china plate, a bottle of perfume—meaningful objects that tell a story. This is the Trinidadian home that artist and celebrated writer Shani Mootoo grew up in. She returned to take photos of its interior rooms that both her family and time had transformed. This nostalgic series is called ‘History Revisited.’

“It is there in that house that I see my roots and I wanted to record the marks on it before time takes it away forever.” Shani Mootoo
