About Romesh's Wall

Shani Mootoo’s nostalgic images of her childhood home in Trinidad reveal an intimate and compelling story. Her ‘History Revisited’ series—photographs of interior rooms, furniture and trinkets are portraits of a life. This wood wall cabinet contains carefully placed objects—photos, ceramic pieces, vases—a bouquet of fresh flowers. Mootoo does not curate the objects before she takes a picture. They are real.

“It is there in that house that I see my roots and I wanted to record the marks on it before time takes it away forever.” Shani Mootoo
